Rock Star Wishes

Stars are really rocks,
ancient, hydrogen
and helium burning
from their core,
shooting points of light
across the universe
millions of miles to
where you and I stand
in the cool night air,
holding hands, our love
hotter than the star’s fire,
so sure of each other,
we’re willing to hang
our dreams on a rock
the size of a firefly.
