How The Having of It Quenches

Tender to the touch
so sensual, so promising
alluring, flirting
uplifting and addictive
as the taste of you crosses my lips
delicious in a sweet, thirsty way
like cool rain after a long summer drought
there are ways to make of the moment
anything can happen
with a Brandywine heirloom tomato
from my garden.

Jacquie Marietta lives in Iowa and her poetry has been published in Lyrical Iowa.
She is a retired Research Associate and wrote poetry when not at her lab bench or supervising clinical trials.
