Marc Zegans

9/1/2024

 Fine Dining

There are not four basic food groups,
My son tells me.  There are five:
Candy, cookies, ice-cream,
Cake and soda.

That is not all: Energy drinks,
The color of anti-freeze,
Are a “mega-food group.”

And floating above it all
On the Parnassus of youth
Nutrition is Pez.

I feel ashamed to have reached
This point in my life, so ill-informed,
Yet grateful that my boy knows
So much more than I.

Ah...Progress.
