Sean McDermott

Coffee And Grit

Belief can be pardoned,
But for wayward thoughts there is no receipt.

Show me sharp relief,
And I’ll show you a fool and a dull butter knife.

Mottled clothing, muddy boots,
Is there coffee somewhere?

Lend me your stale and sugary buns,
And I will give you a homily on stubborn grit.

Fishing

A quiet meme of solitude,
Eludes the vast majority.

Stuck in the motion and din of living,
Saying everything and doing nothing.

Chasing the shiny object,
An assassin hunter looking for nothing in particular.

Motion. Smell. Appearance.
A fish waiting to be hooked and perhaps not thrown back.

A cross and a stringer,
I should keep this picture to myself.
