Poor Soup
I am a 70-year old man
in a dying country.
I have friends older than
me, who also remember
when we weren’t dying.
I have friends who did
not make it this far. It is
for them I make this poor
soup and call it a poem.
It is for them I write long
into the white nighttime
trying to keep the devil busy.
