Four haikus : The Flight of Cranes
White cranes soar over Earth
Guiding souls to the next world.
So the legend says.
Compelled by an internal clock
Cranes fly south for warmth
And return in Spring to mate.
Wings widespread, calling farewell
Cranes rise from the marsh.
Have I outstayed my welcome?
Autumn leaves are falling, and now
Crane flocks fill grey skies.
I'll go, but can I come back?
