Anne Greene is a painter and printmaker living and working in Carmel Valley. She was born in Providence, Rhode Island, and majored in painting at Rhode Island School of Design.
The etchings and monotypes included here focus on somersaulting or diving male nudes . They convey a dream space or poetic atmosphere which the figures, isolated or adrift with no clear direction, inhabit. Spinning, floating, running, and diving figures have been motifs in Anne's work for the past several years.
Anne’s paintings, prints, drawings and assemblages have been exhibited in museums and galleries in Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, Virginia, North Carolina and California. Her career has included teaching art since 1971 for arts councils and other non-profits and state-sponsored programs; designing cover and text illustrations for poetry & other literary volumes, most recently drawings for " Passion for Place"; directing art galleries in Newport, R.I. and New Bern, N.C.; and restoring the artwork on clocks, including reverse painting on glass. www.annegreene.weebly.com
