net
sown
by stitched syllables
a maternal hand
a paternal hand
never mind
the dominant hand
just yet
before legs
can support the world
a name is woven
put together
the early composition
sweet and warm
yet soon
exasperation and concern
will be tacked on
stitch by stitch
muscles grow
begin to capture
and collect
trinkets to adorn
an aunt
an uncle
grandparents
add their dye
before the world
patiently waiting
with fang and claw
give shape and music
to endure
friends trip between
loops of letters
adding character
shine and glitter
until time
of bone and anger
smudges the core
in time a smile
and soft eyes
will add blush
lace dreams
to drift away
like kite
day or night
moon and sun
noise and silence
love and loss
will twist and thread
until they become
one braid
now a name is
nylon strong
one night
the net will fall
to stone
to sand and ash
with life
no more
except for silk
from lips
of those
you've
touched
