An Angel Came Visiting
My laughter is inviolate
Trees are ablaze
Breeze flows past my feet
My wings are enormous
I take flight with pure strength
Set for the mountains
Look for the children
With godly souls and speech
My joy is over brimming
My wish is all speed
Searching for the goodness
God planted as a seed
Prayers are a’coming
I hear them, smell them, taste them
Touch down for a moment
To whisper impressions of hope
Linger long enough for suggestion
Life is bigger than thought
Love is soft and immediate
All that we’ve got
Then I take flight
Feel the joy of the universe
The pressing of the breeze
As it plays with my wings
Sends me out again and again
I have faith in my mission
Love in my flight
To you I just came
Gave you words to write down
As you lay in your bed
Asleep in the morn
You arose for the party
Put your hat on, pen in hand
Felt my love touch your goodness
Gave words to my thoughts
An angel visited Joan in a dream early one morning. A very poetic angel whose words flew through Joan as she raced out of her bed to sit in front of the warm fireplace and write them rapidly down. Her faith in a Higher Power has sustained her and very often surprised her with its transformative beauty.
Joan Ashworth-Ward is a mother, grandmother, wife, sibling and good friend to many, a 30-year veteran first grade teacher and now a certified massage therapist who primarily focused on hospice massages until the pandemic made that impossible.
