Simon Perchik and Eileen Myles
A friend asks my favorite poets.
I say, “Simon Perchik and Eileen Myles.”
“Never heard of them.”
“I know. That’s why I love them.”
Then we talk about how horrible it would be
to be in the tunnel during an earthquake.
All three of us look very worried
just considering what that would be like.
We can picture it, us, trapped, the tunnel.
“Who were those two poets you said earlier?”
Ron Riekki’s books include U.P. (Ghost Road Press), Posttraumatic (Hoot ‘n’ Waddle), and My Ancestors are Reindeer Herders and I Am Melting in Extinction (Loyola University Maryland’s Apprentice House Press).
