Daylight Between Us
Back then
When you held me
You kept some
Daylight between us
No matter how tightly
I grasped
And now
That it is
Twilight
The distance
Between us
Is something
I can see
With eyes
Whose love is not dimmer
But cast in a sheen
Of tears the color
Of resignation
The twilight between us
Just bright enough
That I cannot sleep
Well
As it comes through
Into this room
Where you are
And also are not
Not at all
The Flower Opens
The flower opens
At night
The song begins
To fill the room
The pages unfold
And
The words come forth
To pierce the flesh
Of the soul
Our flag unfurls
The moon penetrates
Our sheets that are
Bent back
On the bed
To accept us
I dive in
And lie waiting
Come join me
