Jevin Albuquerque

9/1/2023

Rock Creek

Today I returned to my campsite

No critters       footprints

            Alone

But rocks, near the fire pit

            In a line

 Painted: yellow-blue-white-orange

The work of a small person

            Hope

The daughter we never had

(Spillway 25, 2017)

Jevin Lee Albuquerque grew up in California, on the local pier in Santa Cruz, fishing for striped bass. He evolved into a fly fisherman, obsessed with trout and steelhead. In a former life, he was a professional soccer player. He has a degree in Latin American Studies from UCLA. His work has appeared in numerous literary journals, including Catamaran Literary Reader, Confrontation Magazine, and Universal Oneness—Poetry Anthology (Authorspress, New Delhi, India, 2020).
