Not Even The Moon
wild summer night,
the moon hot on our trail;
we sneak behind a tree --
count wild strawberries
picked earlier in the day
when the sun had the stage
I remember that night
in Nashville – we talked of
forever, which leads us to
right here and now. Let’s take
this thing further, into a greater
beyond -- as long as our spirits
hold up, and our bodies keep
up -- nothing can stop us,
not even the moon
Without Any Fuss
Can I slip into heaven unnoticed? –
lay back and chill, make friends
with the ones who got here before
me. Take in a concert: Hendrix,
Lennon, Harrison, Bowie, Janis,
Jimi, Bonham. Some Tina to get
the big wheels rollin’ – blow some
harp with Junior Wells. Secret
talks with John and George, hash
over Beatlemania, get lessons from
Jimi. Find out what really happened to
Pac and Biggie. Go see a movie –
comedies only, can’t do dramas.
Fly under the radar without
any fuss.
A Short Blast Of High Hopes
There’s no shame in wanting more –
to live without worry of your next
meal, travel the planet when the
mood strikes. Time thins out, and
every clock is different. Dreams need
company -- and the only way forward
is through the heart. No diseases,
vacations on the daily. Live well, but
humble. Fly high under the stars.
