1. Introduction

To Readers of Monterey Poetry Review:

Welcome to the Spring 2024 edition of Monterey Poetry Review, themed, Imagine... Imagine all the people living life in peace... John Lennon

Imagine...the very word opens doors, hearts, minds, infinite possibilities. Pablo Picasso said Everything you can imagine is real. Wow! Think of all the things we can “imagine” that would manifest change. Then add action to those and we can, as a united humanity, move together towards peace, a healed mother earth, an end to prejudice and cruelty in all forms...

Once, when activist Gloria Steinem spoke about change she said, We have to imagine change before we can begin to move toward it. We, as poets, writers, artists can have such an impact with our words, images, creative endeavors. Ralph Waldo Emerson so aptly added “heart” to this when he said, In art, the hand can never execute anything higher than the heart can imagine.

Enjoy this edition of MPR and keep imagining your own beauty and potential in all ways.
